Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus!(My second speech which i delivered in toastmasters club)

  

                  Each one of you must have noticed that usually in colleges there are two categories of girls. One group of girls is those who socialize with boys and are comfortable in hanging out with them. The other category of girls is entirely different.. they always prefer to be in girly gang.In their girls only group they have fun to the nth degree. These girls typically have fun in fantasizing and talking animatedly about romantic heroes from novels and Hollywood movies…they have fun in sitting together and gossiping especially about the girls belonging to 1^st category..they enjoy their group studies because for them group studies means group chatting whose topics keeps on drifting from on to another….and then all of sudden they realize they had assembled there to study. they will then take a study break for 5 mins and again come back to their important discussions on their personnel problems, others personnel problems and problems of characters of daily soaps the so called serials…..they enjoy going for shopping not in those busy malls but in those local markets where the fun of bargaining gives altogether a different contentment. .

Toastmasters and fellow orators,

   One such girl belonging to second category of girls who was accustomed to be with girls and had enjoyed 4 years of her college life in an girly girly environment  joined black and Veatch on 1^st july 2013.  Yes…your assumption is correct ….the girl is none other than me who is standing in front of you to present speech on men are from mars and women are from venus…Men are from mars and women are from venus is a actually a book written by John gray in which he has elucidated HOW MEN AND WOMEN HAVE ENTIRELY A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ABOUT everything as if they belong to 2 different planets .now to make you understand why I selected this particular topic I need to take you to my very first day here at black and veatch.

You can very well imagine the excitement and thrill of a new joinee who is going to start her new phase of life…I was very happy and was smiling practically from ear to ear when Preetika said hey deepthi welcome to black and veatch….and then she said something which took away my enigmatic smile…this is what she said “in the batch of 9 get’s you are the only girl”…and my inner voice said…..come on…you are kidding me right??.

I know you must be thinking… what is so devastating about that… believe me for a girl who had been in girls only circle, finding herself amongst a bunch of guys is something gruesome…

But with time everything falls into place.

Transition from Venus to mars was indeed awkward for me….

Instead of listening and participating in talks like…”hey you know the parlour I went yesterday was so good and beyond belief cheap..” ….now I am used to listen “any idea the gym  they have newly opened up in shivajinagar?”

In place of talking and fantasizing about ranbir kapoor and tom cruise……I am used to bear the discussion guys have about how good deepika looks in rameleela…

Gone are the days when I used sit and listen with interest what is going on in radha’s life and what is what is wrong with maya’s life…well now I am a part of discussion where the participants are very much interested in discussing all the world problems…why is the blasts occurring in different corner of the world, What is narendra modi going to talk in next speech   …as if they are going to solve all those problems single handedly…

Believe me to survive in that group which has a gender ratio of 1:8  I have downloaded apps like bbc new and times of india my phn…I can never forget those 10  mins I spent in cafeteria gulping my coffee and trying to process the words that where emanating from their mouth…I can list out some of them…..nifty..equity..bse sensex..bluechip stock.. kind of felt they were speaking some sort of foreign language.,.. I did think of downloading economic times as well..but mind said…hell with that..!!!

Now I am kind of used to listen to what scores Sachin is going to make instead of listening to how cute virat kohli looks while he gets aggressive…well I need to mention here that for those species from mars cricket just doesn’t ends with talking about scores and wickets its also includes which cheer leaders are betters csk’s or rcb’s.,.(to be deleted)

Guys are always in some sort of hurry…Once I used to eat in slowest of the slowest pace enjoying each bite of food…but now I got accustomed to finish off whatever is there in my plate in as much pace as I can ..

Sometimes it feels good to be a Venusians in land of mars..while in college I was used to receive teasing and bullying from the girly gang…but now it feels good to receive all those gentlemanly respect which I get.

        To conclude I would like say with my experience… in general the Martians are more inclined towards practical world….and Venusians are believers of beautiful imaginary world..and with their different capabilities they make this earth a wonderful place to live in
